Kaley Cuoco Joins Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson in HBO Max Drama Pilot HOW TO SURVIVE WITHOUT ME

HBO Max is lining up something special with its new drama pilot How to Survive Without Me, and Kaley Cuoco has officially joined the series, stepping into a leading role alongside Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson.

With Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran steering the project, this one already feels like a must-watch for fans of character-driven family dramas with a twist.

The series centers on the De Angelis family, who are reeling after the death of their matriarch, Beverly. But this isn’t just a story about grief.

According to the official logline, “In the wake of matriarch Beverly’s passing, the De Angelis family have begun to drift, unsure how to manage their complicated, evolving lives without her guidance, but in true Beverly fashion, she found a way to keep running the show from the beyond.

“Should they wish to experience Beverly’s final work, the family must find the time — and make the effort — to remain connected and be there for each other through all of life’s challenges yet to come.”

Cuoco will play Kate, the eldest daughter who carries more than just family responsibility on her shoulders. She’s described as “the eldest daughter who inherited her mother’s perfectionism, elegance, and organizational prowess.

“Balancing her own marriage and motherhood, along with a fulltime job as an interior designer, Kate presents an immaculate image to the world — but her perfect facade masks deeper wounds she’s never fully addressed.”

It’s a role that feels tailor-made for Cuoco’s ability to juggle emotional weight with charisma. This also marks her second collaboration with Berlanti and their second project together at HBO Max.

Fans will remember their previous hit, The Flight Attendant, which earned Cuoco two Emmy nominations and Golden Globe recognition, along with a shared Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy series.

Sarah Aubrey, head of Max Original Programming, is thrilled about the reunion. She said, “Kaley Cuoco is an inspired choice for Kate. With her incredible range, she is a perfect fit for the role.

“Her previous work with Greg Berlanti on The Flight Attendant showed us the magic of their creative partnership, and we’re excited to see them reunite and capture that spark again.”

Cuoco has built a strong legacy in television. She became a household name thanks to The Big Bang Theory, which wrapped its 12-season run in 2019. Since then, she’s kept busy with projects like the animated Harley Quinn, Peacock’s Based on a True Story, and the MGM+ series Vanished, where she stars opposite Sam Claflin.

Warner Bros. Television is just as enthusiastic about bringing her back into the fold. Clancy Collins White, president of creative affairs at Warner Bros. Television, shared:

“Kaley has such a rich legacy at WBTV, and we’re excited to collaborate with her once again on How to Survive Without Me.

“She has a natural charm and a remarkable talent for turning roles into unforgettable characters, and we can’t wait to see her powerhouse performance alongside Ray and Joshua in this deeply moving story from Greg and Bash.”

With Romano and Jackson already attached, and Berlanti and Doran crafting the story alongside Robbie Rogers, How to Survive Without Me will be heartfelt exploration of family, loss, and the ties that hold people together even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.
