I was extremely excited to hear that Judge Dredd was getting a series of its own. Fans have been wanting to see something like this happen for years. We've all been hoping for a sequel to Dredd but Judge Dredd: Mega City One could end up being the next best thing, especially if Karl Urban is a part of it!
When the initial announcement was made, there was no word on if Urban would be a part of the series, but it looks like it's a possibility! The producers want him on board and they are currently in talks with him to try and make it happen. While talking to The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast, producer Brian Jenkins discussed the show and addressed Urban’s involvement:
"We have had many conversations prior to this, about all sorts of things. He’s also very busy, a full-time professional actor. So we’re going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he’s available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant. There’s always a possibility he will be busy, or that his schedule for other movies won’t allow- Basically, we don’t know at this stage.”
I'm just happy that they are looking to bring him on board. Whether or not he can actually do it is a different story. It seems like Urban and the producers are all interested in making it work, but it all comes down to his scheduling. I really hope that things work out with Urban. I'd love to see him back in the role of Judge Dredd. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
