Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage Gets a Retro Action Hero Makeover in MORTAL KOMBAT 2 Poster For Fake Film UNCAGED FURY

Karl Urban is ready to bring Johnny Cage’s Hollywood swagger to life in Mortal Kombat II, and the marketing team just dropped a brilliant tease that fans can’t stop talking about. Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, took to X to share a poster for a fictional in-universe movie called Uncaged Fury, and it’s peak Johnny Cage energy.

The poster looks like it was ripped straight from a dusty 90s video store shelf, complete with Mortal Kombat 3-inspired fonts and gritty VHS-era aesthetics.

Urban’s Cage is front and center, serving up sunglasses-and-leather-jacket bravado that screams “action superstar.” It kinda has the same vibe as the original poster for Mission: Impossible.

Boon even tagged longtime MK producer Todd Garner, jokingly pointing out the “old DVD” featuring a teaser trailer for Uncaged Fury.

Then in true meta fashion, the team created a fake IMDb page for Uncaged Fury, adding another layer to the gag and giving us a taste of Johnny Cage’s fictional filmography. It’s a small detail, but it’s the kind of thing that makes this marketing stunt feel alive inside the Mortal Kombat universe.

With Mortal Kombat II set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025, fans are desperate for any glimpse of what’s next. and this campaign delivers some fun nostalgia, humor, and hype in one punch.

Plus, Boon’s mention of an “old DVD with the teaser trailer” has fans speculating that a full trailer for the real movie might be coming soon.
