Kate Beckinsale is back in action in the first trailer for the upcoming thriller Guilty Party. The series is coming to Paramount+ and in it, Beckinsale plays a journalist who gets in way over her head as she attempts to salvage her career as a journalist as she tries to prove a prison inmate's innocence.

Here’s the synopsis:

GUILTY PARTY follows Beth Burgess (Kate Beckinsale), a discredited journalist desperate to salvage her career by latching on to the story of a young mother, Toni Plimpton (Jules Latimer), who has been sentenced to life in prison for maiming and murdering her husband, crimes she claims she did not commit. In trying to uncover the truth, Beth finds herself in over her head as she contends with Colorado gun-smugglers, clickbait culture, the doldrums of marriage and her own tarnished past.

I tend to enjoy most of the projects that Beckinsale is a part of and this looks like it was a fun series for her to take on. The show seems like it will offer some solid entertainment.

Guilty Party was created by Rebecca Addelman (Dead to Me) and the first season will consist of ten episodes. It will start streaming October 14th exclusively on Paramount+.
