Kate Bosworth's Surfing Film BLUE CRUSH is Getting a TV Series Adaptation

Do you remember Kate Bosworth's 2002 surfing film Blue Crush? It was actually a pretty good movie and now NBC is looking to catch a wave and turn it into a TV series. According to THR, the reboot is currently in development with writer and executive producer Hannah Schneider (Reign). Mega-producer Brian Grazer is also involved with the series. Here at the detsils that have been revealed:

As in the feature — which spawned a direct-to-video sequel — the NBC take tells the story of female empowerment and ambition in the world of Hawaii's North Shore. In the wake of a tragic accident, a surfer works to revive her career and bring pride to a local community threatened by commercialism and dangerous surf politics. Even in paradise, you never know what chaos is brewing inside the barrel.

As an avid surfer and with girls of my own who also enjoy surfing, It's cool to see that we are getting a series that revolves around surfing. I just hope it turns out to be a good show!

None of the original talent from the film such as Bosworth or Michelle Rodriguez are expected to return.

Series reboots are big business in Hollywood right now. On top of this, there are Roswell (The CW), The Nice Guys (Fox), True Lies (Fox), The Jetsons (ABC), The Munsters (NBC), Starsky and Hutch (Amazon) and even Party of Five, which is currently being shopped around.

What do you all think about Blue Crush being adapted into a TV series?
