Kate Hudson and Elisabeth Moss Face Off in Trailer for the Intense Thriller SHELL
Republic Pictures has released the trailer for Shell, a dark comedy thriller that puts Kate Hudson and Elisabeth Moss on a collision course, and if the footage is anything to go by, it’s going to be a tense ride.
The story follows Moss as Samantha Lake, a once-famous actress desperate to revive her career. She enters a glamorous wellness program run by Hudson’s Zoe Shannon, who promises transformation and success.
At first, it looks like Samantha has found a way back into the spotlight, but it doesn’t take long for her to realize that Zoe’s empire is built on something much darker. The trailer teases Samantha’s growing dread as she uncovers the sinister truth and struggles to escape Zoe’s grip.
The synopsis reads: “Desperate to reclaim her career, once-beloved actress Samantha Lake is drawn into the glamorous world of wellness mogul Zoe Shannon—only to uncover a monstrous truth beneath its flawless surface.”
Shell is directed and produced by Max Minghella with a script from Jack Stanley. This project reunites Moss and Minghella after their work together on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, where they played each other’s love interests.
The supporting cast includes Kaia Gerber, Arian Moayed, Lionel Boyce, Este Haim, Randall Park, Ziwe, Amy Landecker, Peter MacNicol, and Blake Lee.
On top of starring, Moss is also producing the film. With its sharp mix of dark humor and psychological tension, Shell looks like it’s going to keep audiences on edge.
Hudson and Moss are clearly bringing their A-game, and this unsettling dive into the cost of fame is shaping up to be one of fall’s must-watch thrillers.
The film is set to hit select theaters and digital on October 3.
