Kate Hudson Set To Star in Mindy Kaling's Lakers Basketball Comedy Series
Kate Hudson is set to star in and executive produce Mindy Kaling’s untitled basketball comedy series at Netflix. The series is a workplace comedy inspired by the front office of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kaling is co-writing the series alongside fellow Mindy Project alums Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, and Stassen is serving as showrunner.
In the series, “The only sister in a family of competitive brothers, Isla Gordon (Hudson) has been overlooked and underappreciated her whole life. But when a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla is unexpectedly appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious, Isla finally has a chance to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”
The first season will consist of ten-episodes and it’s being produced by Lakers’ President and Governor Jeanie Buss and the team’s Linda Rambis alongside Lakers’ Jordan Rambis.
This should be an interesting show and a great project for Hudson.
