Kate McKinnon the Latest Star to Join WB's Ensemble BARBIE Movie
Saturday Night Live and Joe vs. Carole star Kate McKinnon is the latest star to join the cast of the Warner Bros. feature film Barbie. She joins Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who are starring as Barbie and Ken.
America Ferrara and Simu Liu are also on board to star, but like McKinnon, their roles are undisclosed at this time. Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women) is directing the film from a script she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story).
Plot details are also under wraps, but these two writers are sure to give us an interesting story. Robbie previously talked about the film sayin, “We like the things that feel a little left of center. Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,’ but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you're thinking, we're going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn't know you wanted.”
I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
