Kate Winslet to Helm Family Drama GOODBYE JUNE in Directorial Debut at Netflix
Academy Award and Emmy winning actress Kate Winslet (Titanic, The Reader, Mare of Easttown) is switching gears and moving behind the camera for her directorial debut on the Netflix family drama feature, Goodbye June.
Along with directing and producing the film, Winslet will also star in it alongside Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall and Helen Mirren.
Kate Solomon is producing with Winslet, with Working Title as executive producers. From a script penned by Joe Anders, Winslet’s son, the movie is set in present-day England and revolves around a “fractured group of siblings pull together under sudden and trying circumstances,” the synopsis reads.
The movie will go into production on location in the U.K. later this year. Although Winslet has never directed a film, she was highly involved in Ellen Kuras’s Lee, which she produced and starred in as American photographer Lee Miller. She is nominated alongside Solomon for outstanding British film at the BAFTA awards.
