Katie Holmes is Set To Star in a Sequel To The Horror Film THE BOY

Katie Holmes is set to star and take on the lead role in a sequel being developed for the 2016 horror film The Boy.

William Brent Bell will return to direct The Boy 2 and it will be produced by STXfilms and Lakeshore Entertainment. Screenwriter Stacey Menear is also back to write the script.

The first film was an ok horror movie. It starred The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan and the story followed a young woman who takes a job as a nanny for an 8-year-old boy in a remote English village. Turns out, the child is actually a life-size doll that needs to be cared for like a real human. As you might expect, bad things start to happen when the rules of the doll are violated.

The story for the sequel is said to revolve around a young family, “unaware of the terrifying history of the estate into which they move, where their young son soon makes an unsettling new friend, an eerily life-like doll he calls Brahms.'‘

When talking about the sequel producer Gary Lucchesi said, “Following the success of ‘The Boy,’ we are thrilled to be working on the next chapter of this chilling Brahms story with Stacey and William. We are also delighted to be continuing our relationship with STX, on this, our third partnership”

It seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve seen Holmes make a movie. That last movie I recall seeing her in was Logan Lucky. It’s good to see her join this new project. It should be a good one for her.

Principal photography will begin in Victoria, British Columbia, on January 14th.
