Kayce Dutton Saddles Up in the First Trailer for the YELLOWSTONE Spinoff Y: MARSHALS
CBS has released the first full trailer for Y: Marshals, giving us a long awaited first look at Kayce Dutton’s next chapter in the expanding Yellowstone universe. The new spinoff series arrives on March 1, 2026, bringing the franchise back to network television with a fresh direction and a familiar character at its center.
Luke Grimes returns as Kayce, and the trailer wastes no time diving into where his head is at after the fallout of Yellowstone. It opens with Kayce’s voice reflecting on everything he has survived and everything he has lost.
“I fought every day to get out from under the weight of the Yellowstone. I’ve lost my teammates, my parents, even my brothers. I know sometimes good men have to do bad things. But I’m trying to find a new beginning.”
That sets the tone for a series built around reinvention. With the ranch behind him, Kayce signs on with a specialized unit of U.S. Marshals.
The official logline explains that he blends his background as both a cowboy and a Navy SEAL to deliver justice across Montana. It is a setup that fits right in with the rugged frontier energy fans love while opening the door to new environments and threats.
Grimes is joined by Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Brett Cullen, making for a strong ensemble around the character of Kayce. Several Yellowstone veterans also step back into their roles, including Brecken Merrill, Gil Birmingham, and Mo Brings Plenty, tying the new show directly to its roots.
Spencer Hudnut wrote the pilot and serves as showrunner and executive producer. The first episode is directed by Greg Yaitanes, who also executive produces. They are joined by creator and franchise architect Taylor Sheridan.
Y: Marshals is the next big expansion of Sheridan’s Montana saga. The new trailer leans into that signature mix of grit, personal stakes, and wide open landscapes, while giving Kayce a mission that looks both dangerous and cathartic.
If you’ve been waiting to see where Yellowstone rides next, Y: Marshals looks ready to deliver.
