Keanu Reeves Has Read THE MATRIX 4 Script and Says "It's Very Ambitious"
Over a month ago it was officially announced that The Matrix 4 was happening with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and director Lana Wachowski. It was a great surprise to see the original team coming back together to continue the story of these characters!
For the first time since the announcement, Reeves revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he has read the script, and while he didn’t say much, he did tease:
"It's very ambitious, as it should be!"
He also went on to say that he is "absolutely" excited to reprise the role of Neo. It’s hard to even speculate what story the film will tell, but I’m excited to see these characters back in action. It’s also been rumored that the role of Morpheus may be recast with a younger actor playing a younger version of the character, “but that element has still not been made clear.”
Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich previously talked about the new film saying, “We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana. Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”
Wachowski added, “Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
There’s no word when the film will be released, but it’s said to be going into production in early 2020.
