Keanu Reeves Reportedly Passed on Playing Kraven the Hunter for Sony

Earlier this week, it was reported that Keanu Reeves was offered the role of the Marvel character Kraven the Hunter for the solo film that’s currently in development at Sony Pictures.

Well, according to a new report, that rumor is true. It’s said that Reeves was approached for the role of Kraven several months ago, but that he passed on it. That news comes from entertainment scooper Skyler Shuler of TheDisInsider.

I would have been down to see Reeves take on the role, he would have worked. But there are other actors out there that could take it on and bring the character to life in an awesome way. Maybe Reeves is just waiting for the right role to come to him from Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, who is not involved with Sony’s Kraven, previously said,We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

So, maybe one day we’ll see Reeves join a Marvel movie, but it won’t be for Sony’s Kraven project. So with Reeves out of the running, what other actors would you like to see play Kraven?

In a previously released casting description, Kraven is described as being of Russian origin, with "superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes." It goes on to say that this "maniacal big-game hunter seeks to defeat Spider-Man to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world,” and describes as a "Bourne-like bounty hunter.” Reeves can definitely pull it off.

Screenwriter Richard Wenk, who penned The Equalizer films for Sony, wrote the initial script for the movie and Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad are set to produce.
