Keanu Reeves Says He and Sandra Bullock Would "Freakin'" Knock SPEED 3 "Out of the Park"
Keanu Reeves is very confident that if he and Sandra Bullock made a third Speed movie, they would make a great action flick.
During a joint interview on the 50 MPH podcast, Reeves was asked about the possibility of Speed 3, and he said: “I mean, you know — we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park.”
Bullock went on to say that she needs to work with Reeves again before she dies. The last time they worked together was in the 2006 film, The Lake House.
When talking about their on-screen presence together, Bullock said: “There’s no formula. It just is. Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?”
Reeves added: “It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.”
It would be pretty awesome to see these two talents star in another movie, but who knows if it will be Speed 3. It could be any kind of film, and I think audiences would show up for it.
Bullock went on to talk about Speed 2: Cruise Control, saying: “I’m still embarrassed I was in it. That’s one I wished I hadn’t done and no fans came around that I know of, except for you.”
Reeves turned down the offer to appear in Speed 2 because the screenplay sucked. He previously said: “At the time, I didn’t respond to the script. I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, I loved playing Jack Traven, and I loved ‘Speed,’ but an ocean liner? I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time I had the feeling it just wasn’t right.”
Reeves went on to talk about the onscreen chemistry between he and Bullock, saying: “We had an affection. And the characters themselves have an affection. I think Jack and Annie’s is different than Sandra’s and Keanu’s, but I think we played off each other and I think it was just fun. I think, also, we kind of trusted each other, right?”
Bullock added: “Yeah. I mean, people have full-blown affairs in movies, and you don’t feel something between them. And then people can hate each other in movies and you go, ‘That was electric,’ you know?”
She continued: “We didn’t really look at each other in this movie except for maybe three or four times, because we were constantly battling the elements. And I think that’s what made it so electric, too, is that, watching it, I guess you want them to connect. That was a really clever setup, to sort of keep people apart. Foreplay, I guess.”
She concluded: “But I felt very comfortable with Keanu. There was nothing that I couldn’t try or do or say that he wouldn’t have, I felt, fought for me to do or say or try, and that kind of trust is very rare with actors. Anytime I threw something his way, he swatted it right back and you just go, ‘Okay, there’s my partner.’”
The writer of Speed previously teased a ridiculous idea for a third film, saying: "I think what Keanu said was, 'If the script was good enough,' and that's what it really comes down to. I mean, what do you do? My old joke for Speed 3 was, 'This time, it's 60,' and that's it. Just a little faster, but it's all the same damn thing. And everyone involved is 60. It's like when you see John Wick; each one is the same movie basically, but they're great. I enjoy them, they're brutal."
Would you like to see Reeves and Bullock star in a new film together one day?
