Keira Knightley to Star in and Executive Produce Adaptation of THE ESSEX SERPENT at Apple TV+

Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Imitation Game) has signed on to star in and executive produce the upcoming adaptation of The Essex Serpent at Apple TV+. The period drama is based on the novel by Sarah Perry, with Clio Barnard directing from a script by Anna Symon.

Here’s the synopsis:

Set in 1893, The Essex Serpent follows newly widowed Cora, played by Knightley, who, having being released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.
