Keira Knightley Unravels a Chilling Mystery in First Trailer for Netflix’s THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10
Netflix just dropped the intense first trailer for The Woman in Cabin 10, a psychological thriller that plunges Keira Knightley into a haunting mystery aboard a luxury yacht. The film adapts Ruth Ware’s bestselling novel, and it looks like it’s going to keep audiences on edge.
In The Woman in Cabin 10, Knightley plays Lo, a travel journalist who boards a high-end yacht for an assignment. But her relaxing trip quickly turns into a nightmare after she witnesses a woman being thrown overboard in the middle of the night.
When the other wealthy passengers insist that nothing happened, Lo refuses to back down and starts digging into the dark secrets hidden beneath the surface.
The trailer teases a tense story centered on themes of class, power, gaslighting, and a woman fighting to be believed.
“At its heart, the film is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is,” said author Ruth Ware. “Too many people know what that feels like and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”
The movie comes from director Simon Stone, and it brings a gritty edge to the story, inspired by classic conspiracy thrillers. The filmmaker told Collider:
“Lead female characters have had a bit of a bad rap. It’s always the woman whose sanity we’re doubting. I wanted Lo to feel more like the lead characters from ‘70s paranoid thrillers — Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Gene Hackman in The Conversation. You never question them. You just believe they’re right. That’s what I wanted for Keira.”
The supporting cast includes Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, Art Malik, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The screenplay comes from Joe Shrapnel, Anna Waterhouse, and Simon Stone. The Woman in Cabin 10 looks like it’s set to deliver a sharp, suspenseful ride, diving deep into psychological territory and keeping you guessing till the very end.
The movie will be released on October 10 on Netflix.
