Keith David Was Going to Play M.O.D.O.K. in Marvel's Unproduced NEW WARRIORS Series

As you know, the Marvel TV front has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years. There were several projects in production and development that ended up being canceled. One project that was in development that ending up being axed was the New Warriors series.

There was actually a pilot episode that Disney executives really liked, but it all fell apart after multiple networks ended up passing on the show for some reason.

The showrunner of the New Warriors, Kevin Biegel, recently shared some interesting information on Twitter regarding the series. He revealed that Spawn voice actor Keith David would have ended up playing M.O.D.O.K. He was originally cast as a character known as Ernest Vigman, who was described as “a caustic municipal employee who butts up against the hopeful energy of the New Warriors.”

Turns out, Biegel had big plans for this character, and he was going to end up turning into M.O.D.O.K.!

It’s a shame that we’ll never get to see that! Keith David in the role of M.O.D.O.K. would have been incredible! It’s a missed opportunity that should have existed, but never will.

The canceled Marvel series would have starred Milana Vayntrub, Derek Theler, Jeremy Tardy, Calum Worthy, Matthew Moy, and Kate Comer. Here’s the official synopsis for the canceled series:

Marvel’s New Warriors is about six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, Marvel’s New Warriors”is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.

Would you have liked to see David bring the character M.O.D.O.K. to life?
