Kelsey Grammer Joins Historical Epic YOUNG WASHINGTON From Angel Studios
Kelsey Grammer has officially signed on for Young Washington, the upcoming historical drama from Angel Studios and Wonder Project, diving deep into the early life of George Washington.
In the film, Grammer will portray Lord Fairfax, the influential leader of Virginia’s elite who served as both a vital mentor and a complicated rival to the young George Washington. His role adds some serious dramatic weight to a story already packed with tension, ambition, and personal conflict.
Young Washington explores the untold origin story of America’s first president. At just 22 years old, Washington makes a colossal error that sparks the French and Indian War. Haunted by failure, he must summon the strength to evolve into the leader who would eventually guide a nation.
Joining Grammer in the cast we have William Franklyn-Miller who will take on the role of George Washington, Sir Ben Kingsley plays Robert Dinwiddie, Andy Serkis steps in as General Edward Braddock, and Joel David Smallbone portrays the calculating William Fairfax.
The project is directed by Wonder Project founder Jon Erwin, known for Jesus Revolution and the upcoming House of David. The film is aiming for a big-screen debut over the Independence Day weekend in 2026.
Grammer, fresh off shooting Avengers: Doomsday continues to keep his plate full. This new chapter in Angel Studios’ expanding slate could be one to keep an eye on, especially with a talent-packed cast and an ambitious story that looks to reshape how we see the legacy of George Washington.
Young Washington is set to arrive in theaters July 2026.
