Captivating Trailer for CHEVALIER Based on the True Story of the French-Caribbean Prodigy
A new trailer has been released for the historical drama, Chevalier, which is directed by Stephen Williams (Westworld, Watchmen) from a screenplay written by Stefani Robinson (What We Do In the Shadows, Atlanta). Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Luce, Waves, Elvis) plays the title character, French-Caribbean music prodigy Chevalier de Saint-Georges, and he is joined in the cast by Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), Marton Csokas (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), and Alex Fitzalan (The Society).
Here’s the synopsis:
“Inspired by the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette and her court.”
This looks like a really intriguing and well-done movie that tells an important story that most of us don’t know. I can’t wait to watch it with my son, who is also a violin player. It looks like it’s going to have some incredible violin music in it. Check out the trailer below, and watch Chevalier in theaters on April 7, 2023.
