Kenan Thompson to Star in New NBC Comedy, May Leave SNL

Kenan Thompson has recently set the record for longest-serving cast member on Saturday Night Live after 15 years. Now, the comedian will star in a new series at NBC called Saving Larry. In addition to starring, Thompson will executive produce alongside Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer. Here’s the synopsis:

Thompson [will] star as a dad who has to be both mother and father to his kids after his wife dies. And he has to do it all with his father-in-law hovering over him.

I wish there was a bit more to go off of since this doesn’t seem too original. However, Thompson can be quite funny and charming, so given a good script and great co-stars, Saving Larry could turn into a hit. Of course, if the pilot does get picked up for a full season, it could mean the end of his run on SNL.
