Kenneth Branagh and Alden Ehrenreich Join Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER and There's a First look Photo

Christopher Nolan continues to add to the cast of his upcoming World War II atomic bomb movie Oppenheimer. His most recent recruits are Kenneth Branagh (Dunkirk), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), and David Krumholtz (The Plot Against America).

They join an already incredible cast of actors including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, and Josh Hartnett.

The movie centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb. The film has been described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”

Murphy is playing Oppenheimer, and Blunt will play his wife, but there’s no information on who anyone else will be playing in the epic thriller. The photo you see above is an official first look at Murphy in the role of Oppenheimer.

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

The film is set to be released in theaters on July 21, 2023. Production on the Universal feature shoots this month in New Mexico.
