Kevin Bacon is Revisiting Payson High School in Utah To Celebrate FOOTLOOSE's 40th Anniversary

Footloose is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and in celebration, Kevin Bacon will be headed to Payson, Utah where the movie was filmed. The students at Payson High School have been campaigning for Bacon to attend this year’s prom, which will be the last at the school where the film was shot because it’s being demolished at the end of the academic year.

Bacon will visit during the day of the prom, but he won’t be showing off his dance skills at the dance that night. He will join the day’s festivities leading up to the dance, and there’s no doubt that everyone is going to have a blast! There’s no doubt that Payson High is going to put in effort to make this an unforgettable experience for Bacon and everyone in attendance.

The TODAY show came to the high school and that’s where Bacon announced his plans calling in from Atlanta while students filled the school gym. As you might imagine, the students erupted in cheers. Bacon said: “I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back.”

Bacon also thanked the student support of his SixDegrees.org charity, not to mention the efforts to get him to appear: “I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations.”

He added: “It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me, not to mention the fact that you tied in SixDegrees.org, our foundation, and are trying to figure out ways to give back to your community. It’s really inspirational, so thank you. Thank you. And I’m gonna come. I gotta come.”

After he made the announcement student Rubie Raff said: “Let’s dance! We’re gonna do it! This is awesome!” Tio which Bacon replied, “Thank you guys. Let’s dance.”

This is really cool of Bacon to do! I was actually in Payson, Ut. when all of this happened visiting family. Payson is a pretty awesome little community that I love, and it was great to see all the excitement!
