Kevin Bacon Reveals His TREMORS TV Series is Coming to The SyFy Channel
Back in 2015 is was announced that Kevin Bacon would reprise his role of Valentine McKee in a new Tremors TV series. The actor recently talked about the show with Screen Daily and confirmed that the SyFy Channel has picked up the series. He says:
"We are going to do a pilot for Syfy. It’s the only character I’ve ever played that I was interested in exploring 25 years later."
I loved the original Tremors movie. That was one of those films that I use to watch over and over again when I was a kid. I've even watched most of the sequels which are fun, but none of them turned out as great as the first movie did. I was so happy to hear that Bacon was coming back to reprise his role for the series! When talking about the concept for the series, he said:
It [‘Tremors’] is a really good movie. I don’t go back and watch my movies but because we were doing this one, I had to go back and look at it. It’s just the idea of this loser who is living a very ordinary life and has an extraordinary experience with these monsters and becomes, for a moment, a hero.”
The series is being produced by Universal Cable Television and Blumhouse Productions and The Secret Circle screenwriter Andrew Miller was hired to write the script.
Nothing has been revealed yet regarding the story details, but according to the report it "will maintain continuity with at least the first film in the franchise and will return the story’s setting to Perfection, Nevada." Oh, and you can bet that those sandworm creatures will be back terrorizing the town.
As a long time fan of the franchise and Kevin Bacon, I'm excited to see how this series turns out. I'm not surprised that it landed at the SyFy Channel, that seems like the perfect home for Tremors.
