Kevin Costner Is Set to Star in and Produce "Longtime Passion Project" with Director Ariel Vromen
After completing his two-part Civil War Western epic Horizon: An American Saga, Kevin Costner has got his next film project lined up! He will star in and produce the untitled project that is said to be a “longtime passion project.” He also hired Ariel Vromen (The Iceman) to direct the film from a script owned by Costner.
Vromen shared in a statement: “I could not be more honored to be reunited with my friend and collaborator, especially on Kevin’s longtime passion project.” This will be Costner and Vromen’s second film together. They previously worked on the 2016 action thriller Criminal co-starring Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones. Vromen most recently directed 1992, which is a drama on the 1992 Los Angeles riots,
The new film’s plot is under wraps and there are no other details to share, but production is expected to kick off in early 2025.
Costner’sHorizon: An American Saga chronicles “a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre- and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is fraught with peril and intrigue from the constant onslaught of natural elements to the interactions with the Indigenous peoples who lived on the land and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it.”
I’m curious to see what the next film project of Costner’s will end up being.
