Kevin Costner Set to Direct His Western Film Passion Project HORIZON
Kevin Costner is set to direct his first movie since the 2003 movie Open Range. The film is titled Horizon, and it’s a period western and a passion project for the actor. Costner will also star in the movie, which he is producing and financing.
Horizon chronicles “a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American west.” Costner shared in a statement, “America’s expansion into the west was one that was fraught with peril and intrigue from the natural elements, to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it. Horizon tells the story of that journey in an honest and forthcoming way, highlighting the points of view and consequences of the characters life and death decisions.”
This is sure to be a great film project and I love that Costner is getting back behind the camera. The film is set to start shooting in August in Utah.
Costner has been busy with the Yellowstone series the past few years, which has been incredible. I love that show, and I’m excited to see how this new western of his turns out.
