Kevin Costner Will Search for the Perfect Wave in the Surf Thriller HEADHUNTERS
Kevin Costner has found a new film project to work on following the first two films in his Horizon: An American Saga western epic. He is set to star in, co-write, and produce the tropical surf thriller Headhunters.
In the film, Costner will play “a washed-up American ex-pat with a mysterious past who winds up living in Bali, Indonesia.”
In the story, “He gathers a group of surfers led by a local photographer to find the perfect wave at an uncharted island — which winds up being the domicile to an ancient tribe of headhunters who are protecting their land at all costs.”
As someone who loves the ocean and surfing, I’m looking forward to seeing how this project turns out. It will be directed by Steven Holleran, who is making his directorial debut. Daniel Zovatto (Station Eleven) has also been cast in the film.
Costner still plans on making the final two films in his Horizon epic, but he’s still trying to figure out how to pull that off. Costner previously explained: “I don’t know how I’m gonna make 3 right now, but I’m gonna make it.”
Regardless, Headhunters sounds like an interesting project for Costner, and it’s a different kind of film from what he’s been making in recent years.
