Kevin Costner Slams Rumors That He's Difficult To Work with on YELLOWSTONE
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Kevin Costner and Paramount+ were having disagreements over shooting schedules and that Costner was being difficult to work with. The report said that Costner only wanted to spend a week shooting the remaining episodes of Season 5, and because of this the network was going to end the series.
Paramount+ refuted those claims, saying: “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
Now Costner is firing back at these rumors and that he is “causing morale problems for the other stars of the show.” According to Costner's attorney, Marty Singer, these claims are "ridiculous". He said:
"The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It's ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn't be believed for one second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin and is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success."
As this statement comes out, there’s also another report from Puck's Matthew Belloni about the situation between Costner and Paramount+ on the series. According to the report, Costner has given Yellowstone just a single week this summer to film his scenes for eight episodes with two additional days scheduled later this fall for pick-ups. Due to these delays, it’s said that the second part of Yellowstone Season 5 will end up being released in the initial window reserved for the show's sixth season. The report goes on to say:
"But more likely, this is a relationship that has run its course. [Yellowstone creator Taylor] Sheridan is certainly furious, I'm told; he can't finish writing the 5B episodes until the Costner drama is resolved and his star is either in or out. McCarthy, Sheridan and lead producer David Glasser are said to have been planning for Costner's eventual exit for a while. And Sheridan has considered killing off John Dutton before, but this time, as they say, it's personal."
So, we’ve got multiple people saying all of this drama is real and that there are issues with Costner, and then you’ve got Costner denying it. I guess we’ll find out what is true or not when we see what the fate of John Dutton is as the series continues.
Regardless of what happens, the Dutton family saga will continue in a new series that will star Matthew McConaughey.
