Kevin Feige Confirms First LGBT Character to Appear in ETERNALS

In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, MCU President Kevin Feige was among the Marvel players to be interviewed about the upcoming slate of films and projects set to grace the screen. While talking about the film The Eternals, which the morning show touted as “the most diverse Marvel cast yet,” Feige confirmed the film will include the MCU’s first openly gay character.

He said of the character, “He’s married, he’s got a family. And that is just part of who he is.” We didn’t get clarification as to which “He” Feige was referring to, but we know it will be one of the cast members of The Eternals. But I wonder, if he’s married, is it to a mortal? It seems like it would be disappointing to marry someone who is going to die off so quickly in the grand scheme of things. But we will know more as time goes on.

It is definitely a step in the right direction that we are getting representation for all types of people who live all types of live in the MCU. Everyone should be able to find characters that represent them in some way. It makes identifying with the characters so much more of a rich experience. I am excited for the star-studded film to come out and introduce us to a whole new world of superheroes.

Eternals hits theaters on November 6, 2020, and stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Barry Keoghan, Brian Tyree Henry, Dong-seok Ma, Lia McHugh, and Lauren Ridloff.

What are your thoughts on this? Who do you think the character he’s talking about could be?
