Kevin Feige Gives Props to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Saying He "Found Something Fairly Quickly" in His Interpretation

Marvel boss Kevin Feige knew that bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to the MCU after he was killed off as Iron Man, only to now play the villainous Doctor Doom, was a big swing. But Feige has been clear about the fact that he believes Downey is the only man for the job, and now he is giving fans even more assurance that the studio made the right choice.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Feige responded to the outlet’s claim that Doom “has never been done right.” Doctor Doom appeared on the big screen previously when Julian McMahon played the character in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Toby Kebbell later portrayed Doom in the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot.

The ante is much higher this time around, and this made casting the role a major challenge for Feige, as well as the directors, the Russo brothers, and Downey Jr., who had to take on the role under the highest expectations.

However, Feige believes Marvel has found the right actor for the job. He called Downey “the greatest actor of his time” and said he “can pull off anything.” Feige also revealed that Downey “found something fairly quickly” with his interpretation of Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday will be the biggest fete Marvel has taken on, with the uniting of The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and X-Men across the multiverse. The movie is set to hit theatres on December 18th. Get your tickets now.
