Kevin Feige Has Been Named Chief Creative Officer Over all of Marvel
Kevin Feige has a new position at Marvel that he will take on, on top of already being president of Marvel Studios. Feige is now Chief Creative Officer at Marvel, and in this position, “he will be responsible for the overall creative direction of Marvel’s storytelling across mediums, including publishing, film, TV, and animation.”
Yep, he will lead the charge on all creative aspects of Marvel, not just the movies. This is a pretty big deal! Marvel Television and Marvel Family Entertainment will be moving under the Marvel Studios banner. Feige will continue to report to Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn and co-chairman Alan Bergman in this new position.
Dan Buckley will remain president of Marvel Entertainment and will continue to oversee publishing both creative and editorial. He will be reporting to Feige from here on out. It’s also explained that Buckley will also oversee “publishing operations, sales, creative services, games, licensing and events, reporting in those areas to Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter.”
Joe Quesada will continue as executive vice president, creative director for Marvel Entertainment, and he will report to Buckley. Marvel Entertainment’s vice president of content and character development Sana Amanat, editor in chief and head of global editorial CB Cebulski, and Stephen Wacker, vice president of creative and content development, will continue in their roles reporting to Buckley.
Feige and his team are currently evaluating all of the projects that are currently in development. Once they go through everything, they’ll decide on how or if the want to proceed with them.
There’s no word on what the future of Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb will be with this recent change, but rumor has it he is being phased out of the live-action aspect of the business. He was behind shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher, Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, and Helstrom.
As for the animated projects, it appears that Marvel Television will now be focused on animation. There are a number of projects in development that include the upcoming shows, Howard the the Duck, MODOK, Hit-Monkey, and Tigra and Dazzler. All four of those shows will then crossover in the event series The Offenders.
What do you all think about Kevin Feige overseeing all things Marvel as Chief Creative Officer?
