Kevin Feige on Black Panther's Allegiance in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

One of the major elements in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War is the choosing of sides. Which Marvel superheroes will join Captain America, and who will join forces with Iron Man? If you’ve read the comics, then you have an idea of what we might see, but this isn’t the comics, and Marvel is sure to switch things up a bit to make it interesting.

Black Panther is set to make his big screen debut in the film, and while talking to SuperHeroHype, Kevin Feige discussed what side T'Challa stands on in the film. He reveals that it’s not with either Captain America or Iron Man. He will stand on his own.

When asked if the studio would continue to introduce characters in their own solo movies, or shift to introducing them in other movies like they are doing with Black Panther, Feige said:

“It always varies, it really does. It always depends on how the timing works out. It depends on what stories we want to tell. In the case of ‘Civil War,’ we needed a third party, we needed a character who wasn’t on either Captain America or Iron Man’s side, which is why we went, ‘You know what? We’re doing a Black Panther movie, but it would actually be smart to have him fill this role we need in Civil War and introduce him here first.’ So it always just depends on the story and the way we want to tell the story.”

Chadwick Boseman is taking on the role of T'Challa, and I’m looking forward to seeing his portrayal of the character.
