Kevin Feige Reportedly Jumped to His Feet Cheering After Watching SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY: "That's How Good It Was"
Marvel Studios has done an impressive job keeping the big secrets of Spider-Man: Brand New Day under wraps.
Now we've gotten one of the most encouraging reactions to the film yet, and it comes from someone who has seen it before anyone else.
According to producer Amy Pascal, the first director's cut left both her and Kevin Feige so impressed that they couldn't stay in their seats. Speaking with Collider, Pascal shared:
"Actually, it was the first time that Kevin and I stood up after a director's cut and cheered. That's how good it was. That's how good Destin [Daniel Cretton, director] is."
That's a pretty incredible endorsement. After overseeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe for nearly two decades and watching countless rough cuts throughout that time, it sounds like Brand New Day delivered something that genuinely surprised him.
A lot of that praise appears to be aimed at director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Marvel clearly has a lot of confidence in what he's bringing to Spider-Man's next adventure, and Pascal's comments only add to the growing anticipation.
What's especially fun is that Marvel has managed to keep almost everything about the movie a mystery, even with its release just around the corner.
We still don't know for sure who the movie's main villain is, Marvel is keeping Sadie Sink's character a closely guarded secret, and fans have spent months trying to piece together every little clue. The most popular theory is that she'll debut as Jean Grey.
Cretton recently explained why the studio has been so careful about revealing that particular secret, saying: "But you'll see when you watch the movie that there's a very real reason not to tell people who Sadie Sink is playing. And I don't think you'll get mad at it. I think you'll be like, 'Oh, I'm glad I didn't know that.'"
That certainly makes it sound like Marvel has a pretty big surprise waiting for audiences. The excitement surrounding the MCU has also gotten another boost thanks to the recently released trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
If Pascal's reaction is any indication, though, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to be a Marvel movie that makes fan very happy, and give them a reason to jump out of their seats and cheer.
The film swings into theaters on July 31.
