Kevin Feige Says After AVENGERS 4 We Will See More Marvel Films Set in Space

With James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 playing a big role in setting the stage for the next phase of the MCU after Avengers 4, fans assumed that we would start seeing more Marvel films in space. Well, those assumptions are right. While we don't know the details on what films will be made, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that he wants to see more films in space. In an interview with Omelete he was asked if the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in space, and this was his response:

"If the Avengers survive, we will see more films with them in space. I love and would like to see more films in space."

Avengers: Infinity War is going to fully immerse the Avengers in the cosmic corner of the MCU as they will be helping to fight to save the universe from Thanos who is looking to destroy it. We have no idea how this story arc is going to play out through Avengers 4, but whatever it is, it will lead to more cosmic adventures, which I'll be looking forward to. Especially with Disney Buying Fox! There's going to be a lot of other characters to build stories around there including the Fantastic Four, Galactus, Silver Surfer, and more. There's so much for Marvel to play with!

When previously talking about the future of the MCU, James Gunn said:

"One of the things I'm doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: It will take place after the next two Avengers movies, and it will help to set up the next ten, twenty, years of Marvel movies. It's going to really expand the cosmic universe. We're going to be setting up new characters; it will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy."

Even though space will be more of a main setting moving forward, there will be stories that take place on Earth. After all, the first Marvel movie to be released after Avengers 4 will be the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Beyond that, we don't really know what other future films might end up being set on Earth. Most of the talk regarding Marvel's future has involved space.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
