Kevin Feige Says MCU Phase 5 Is About Connecting the "Very, Very Big Picture" in a "Very, Very Big Way"

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is revving up to launch Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and according to the man behind the magic, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, this next phase is all about connecting the “very, very big picture” of The Multiverse Saga in a “very, very big way.”

During the world premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Feige shared his thoughts on Phase 4 of the MCU to Marvel.com. Feige said that the team at Marvel Studios wanted The Infinity Saga to feel like a complete work of art after Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, so they made Phase 4 all about “experimentation, introduction, and reintroduction.” He explained:

“We wanted the Infinity Saga to feel complete after Endgame and Far From Home. But Phase 4, as I’ve said, was all about experimentation, introduction, and reintroduction. And we took our time to have fun, and play in genres we hadn’t played in before, and do all sorts of fun things with these characters.”

But what does the future hold for Phase 5, you ask? While there will still be some stand-alone films, experimentation, and genre-busting fun, but, Feige also said that it’s all building up to one massive masterplan… the Multiverse. He explained

“Kicking off Phase 5, we’ll continue that. Like in the Infinity Saga, there will be stand-alone films within the next two phases. But it really is, as you will certainly see in Quantumania, heading towards the very, very big picture. And as we’ve already announced, that big picture is the Multiverse Saga in a very, very big way.”

Phase 5 is going to be a blockbuster superhero bonanza, with six films including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Captain America: New World Order, Thunderbolts, and Blade, and seven television series including What If…? Season 2, Secret Invasion, Loki Season 2, Ironheart, Echo, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Daredevil: Born Again. That’s a total of 13 projects!

If all goes according to plan, Phase 5 will reach its epic conclusion in mid-2024, and the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, will be waiting in the wings to launch Phase 6 of the MCU! Get ready for a wild ride!
