Kevin Feige Says the X-Men Are Going to Be Very Important to the MCU's Future in SECRET WARS and Beyond
Marvel boss Kevin Feige has run a pretty tight ship over the years, giving us a great first few phases of films, and the last few have had some hits and some misses.
But as they’ve acknowledged the slump, things seem to be getting refocused and back on track. Included in the plans for the future are many returning superheroes, as well as some highly anticipated newcomers including the X-Men.
We have already gotten a taste of this motley crew in Deadpool & Wolverine, one of Marvel’s biggest hit films, and we have a lot to look forward to.
During a recent interview with Omelete, while in attendance at Disney’s D23 Brazil last weekend, Feige talked about the future of the MCU, and he teased the future of the X-Men and how they pertain to Avengers: Secret Wars:
“When we were preparing for Avengers: Endgame years ago, it was a matter of getting to the grand finale of our narrative, and then we had to start all over again after that. This time, heading into Secret Wars, we already know very well what the story is going to be up until then and after that. The X-Men are an important part of that future.”
We are still two and a half years out from Secret Wars, so we probably still have a while before the X-Men will be introduced. But it’s just cool to know it’s on the horizon.
Film-wise, Marvel’s confirmed future includes Captain America: Brave New World, due out February 14, 2025; Thunderbolts*, due out on May 2, 2025; The Fantastic 4: First Steps, in theatres on July 25, 2025; Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026; Spider-Man 4 on July 24, 2026; Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027; and then Blade and Armor Wars at some point in the mix.
What are you most looking forward to?
