Kevin Feige Talks About The Tricky Marketing For AVENGERS 4 and Some Characters Obviously Won't Be Included

With all of the secrecy that surrounds Avengers 4 it’s going to be interesting to see how Disney and Marvel actually market the film. Kevin Feige even admits that it’s going to be a little tricky.

During a recent interview with io9, Feige was asked if a character like Black Panther could appear in a trailer for the film and Feige said "No" then explained that the reason is "because he’s gone."

Yeah, a lot of characters in the MCU are gone! With a snap of his fingers Thanos killed a bunch of them off, and I thought it was a safe bet that none of those characters would show up in Avengers 4 and if they did, it would most likely be at the end after the surviving Avengers somehow fixed what Thanos did.

But, io9 seems to think that these characters will be in the film and that Marvel is just going to pretend they aren’t. The site says:

"One can safely assume that goes for everyone who Thanos killed. So does that mean Marvel is going to release a movie that stars Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Sebastian Stan, Dave Bautista, and Tom Holland, but pretend they aren’t in it? Sounds like it."

Again, I never expected to see much, if any of these characters in Avengers 4. It has already been explained that the characters who didn’t have a lot of screen time in Infinity War will be at the forefront of Avengers 4. It's not like they need to market the characters that have already been killed off.

Feige went on to talk about the marketing for the film and how he’s anxious to see how the marketing of the film comes together.

"We are working with the greatest marketing team in the world with Disney so I’m anxious to see how they start to put [the marketing] together."

It actually doesn’t seem like it would be that tricky to market the film. There are so many other characters to use in the marketing for the film! The movie is focusing on a whole new group of characters and one of those characters will be Hawkeye, who wasn’t a part of any of the marketing for Infinity War. Neither was Ant-Man or The Wasp because they weren’t even in it.

So, with that example, I don’t see why Marvel would use any characters in the marketing for Avengers 4 if they aren’t in the movie. But they have all of the surviving heroes along with Hawkeye, Ant-Man, The Wasp, and Captain Marvel.

Did any of you expect to see Black Panther, Spider-Man, Vision, Star-Lord, Drax, Doctor Strange or any of the other characters that Thanos killed in the marketing for Avengers 4?
