Kevin Feige Teases a New Way of Telling Marvel Stories with Disney's Streaming Service
Marvel Studios has big plans for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. They are currently developing a number of series would focus on heroes who have served as second tier characters in the MCU.
Some of those characters include Scarlet Witch and Vision, Winter Solider and Falcon, Loki, and Nick Fury. I’m sure there are even more we don’t know about yet.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently talked about these shows and explains how it will give offer them a new way and approach to tell their stories. While talking to THR he said:
"Paul [Greengrass] mentioned the streaming service, and I think that is something that we're going to be adding content to, which is exciting. I love your analogy with the campfire, right? As many people as you can get around the campfire and tell stories."
He went on to say:
"Campfires can be different: We are going to tell stories for the streaming service that we wouldn't be able to tell in a theatrical experience — a longer-form narrative, that's what comics are, it's about as longform a narrative as exists. But also maintaining that theatrical experience, which is our bread and butter, and the lines around the block, if you're lucky."
Long form narratives that maintain the theatrical experience. That sounds pretty cool. I excited to see how these shows actually turn out. It’s been said that the shows will have big hefty big budgets that will rival “those of a major studio production.” So we know we’re going to get top notch entertainment.
It’s not that these characters aren’t good enough for the big screen, their stories will just work better outside the constraints of a two-hour movie.
Feige also said that some of the big Marvel character are likely to stick to the big screen, even if there is potential to pop up in the shows.
What are you most excited for when it comes to these new Marvel series?
