Kevin Feige Teases Marvel's SECRET INVASION and What We Can Expect From It

One of the most exciting and unexpected announcements that came from Marvel Studios was a Secret Invasion Disney+ series. All we knew about the series when it was first announced is that is would be the most significant crossover event since Civil War in Marvel Comics. Samual L. Jackson is set to reprise his role as Nick Fury, and he’ll be joined by Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull character Talos.

A lot of fans have been wondering what exactly this series was going to deliver. Well, Feige recently talked to CB and teased what we can expect from it, especially since the story arc is one of the most acclaimed Marvel Comics events in the franchise's history.

The story sees the Skrulls invade Earth posing as Avengers with their shapechanging abilities in an effort to take them down and take over the world. There were a ton of Marvel characters utilized in this story, and while Feige plans on utilizing key elements from the comic, we shouldn’t expect to see a shit-ton of Marvel characters in the show. Feige explains:

"Well, there were more characters in the Secret Invasion comic series than there were in Endgame so, no. It's not that but it very much is a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelson and tapping into the paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic series that was great with the twists and turns that that took. So, that's certainly our focus more than, 'Can we cram in more characters than Endgame? like publishing?'"

Seeds for the Secret Invasion storyline were initially planted in the MCU in Captain Marvel, which is the film that introduced the Skrulls into the franchise. Then you’ve got Fury in outer space working with SWORD, which is a cosmic version of SHIELD, and SWORD will play a part in WandaVision, so that will continue to help build toward Secret Invasion.

I’m curious to see how exactly they will adapt the story as a series, and while we know that there won’t be as many characters from the comic in the series, it’s safe to say that there are still going to be a good amount of Marvel characters utilized in the series, and it’ll be interesting to see who else they end up introducing into the story.

What are you hoping to see from the Secret Invasion storyline? What other characters would you like to see make an appearance?
