Kevin Feige Teases That AVENGERS 4 Will Bring a "Definitive Ending"

Avengers: Infinity War ended with quite the cliffhanger. Half of our heroes vanished after Thanos snaps his fingers. Most of them were newer heroes that fans knew/figured would get a sequel which has led to many fans theorizing how Thanos will be stopped and these heroes brought back. The good news is that we can expect to not be left with another cliffhanger at the end of Avengers 4. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has told the Toronto Sun that the film will have a “definitive ending.”

But, storylines can come to an end. The best stories do come to an end. Return of the Jedi was an ending for a long time and as a 10-year-old in 1983 that carried me through 30 years until there was a sequel. That hasn’t happened before in the superhero genre. A new actor comes in and a new storyline starts right away. We wanted to do it this way because we think that the best stories have a definitive ending to a storyline. That’s certainly what’s going to happen next year with Avengers 4.

The Universe, the world, many of the characters we’ve introduced will continue onward in unexpected ways, some of which I don’t even know yet. But bringing a definitive conclusion at the 22-film mark, and just over 10 years, seemed like the right thing to do.

This makes a lot of sense as we’ve been told before that Infinity War and Avengers 4 would be the end of the first book of the MCU. Of course, Marvel has movies planned out as far as 2024 and the MCU will keep going as long as it earns money for the Mouse House but starting with Spider-Man: Far From Home, I think we can expect it to be very different.

Avengers 4 will premiere May 3, 2019.
