Kevin Feige Wants One Significant Villain to Return to Marvel Cinematic Universe
Uproxx had a good old chat with Head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, about his time in the Marvel Universe. Among many of the discussions they had, one of them was on why Obadiah Stane had to die in Iron Man. Uproxx had had an interview with Jeff Bridges at a press event, where the actor was not impressed with his character being killed off.
"No, in the script, the script that I hired onto, my character lives! They open my suit up and I’m gone. But then when we got to shoot that scene, they didn’t open my suit up! I said, 'Aren’t you going to open my suit up?' They said, 'No.' I said, 'You’re going to kill my guy?' And they say, 'Well, it’s a comic book. You could come back. Who knows?' You know? But anyway."
Even Feige has admitted in the Uproxx interview that he wishes Obadiah could make a comeback, saying:
“Well, that would be awesome to have him come back. That would be great.”
Apparently, Obadiah was killed off to make way for the Mandarin, but even Feige believes that in the MCU as within comics, villains always find a way to return.
Who knows. They may bring Obadiah back, but I don't know if the character in the first film was interesting enough for a return. Jeff Bridges did a great performance, but Obadiah himself had no return appeal for me. It would be interesting to see what they would do with the villain if they do indeed put him back in.
What do you think? Was Obadiah a good enough villain to return to the MCU? Or should we just get a better villain for Bridges to play? Let us know.
