Actors Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes have signed on to star in a new limited series at Netflix called True Story. Despite its name, the series is fiction, and tells the story of a comedian and his relationship with his older brother. Variety reports that in the series, “Hart will play Kid, a world-famous comedian who makes a tour stop in his hometown of Philadelphia and visits his older brother Carlton, played by Snipes. However, the events of one lost evening turn into matters of life or death that threaten to destroy Kid’s career and everything he has built.”

The series is being written by Eric Newman (Narcos, Narcos: Mexico), with Stephen Williams (Watchmen, Lost) directing and executive producing the first four episodes, and Hanelle Culpepper (Star Trek Picard, Kung Fu) directing the final four episodes.

Hart is executive producing the series as well, and said of the project:

“I’ve never been more excited about an acting project in my career. I’ve always been a fan of Wesley Snipes and working with him is mind-blowing. Having HartBeat Productions at the helm and working alongside Eric Newman as a partner and creative arm has been unreal, nobody is ready for what this show is going to be.”

I think this sounds like an interesting project, and I can’t wait to see a trailer that digs deeper into the story. Does True Story sound like a series you might be interested in?
