Kevin Hart Will Star in a Comedic Action-Thriller Series Titled ACTION SCENE From The Writer of JOHN WICK
Kevin Hart is the latest big name actor to sign up for a series on the upcoming Quibi streaming service. The series is titled Action Scene and it’s a comedic action-thriller being written by John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad. It’s also been reported that stuntman and director Lin Oeding (The Blacklist, Braven, Office Uprising) has been tapped helm it.
The project is based on the frenetic opening scene of Hart’s 2016 concert film Kevin Hart: What Now?. “Hart will portray a fictionalized version of himself on a quest to land the action-movie role of a lifetime. After being rejected for the role, Kevin randomly encounters a leading A-List action movie director. Their meeting inadvertently sets off a chain of events that forces Hart to fight his way through a series of over-the-top action sequences with the help of some of Hollywood’s biggest action movie heroes.”
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun! As someone who enjoys many of Hart’s films and his comedy, this is something that I’d be interested in checking out. But, I’m not signing up for another streaming service to watch it.
Quibi was created by DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman. The short form platform has been attracting a lot of A-list talent including Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, Steven Soderbergh, Catherine Hardwick, Anna Kendrick, Doug Liman, Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media. Quibi also has ordered shows featuring Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Don Cheadle and Idris Elba as well as a remake of MTV’s “Punk’d.”
