Kevin Smith Confirms Jason Mewes Will Appear in THE FLASH

Earlier this month, Kevin Smith posted a photo of himself with his longtime friend Jason Mewes on the set of the episode of The Flash that Smith is directing. This led to some speculation that Jay and Silent Bob might appear in the episode, which would have been fun. But you won't be seeing both those characters on screen. You'll get one of them, though! Smith revealed the news during his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, saying:

“I did not put Jay and Silent Bob in it. I did put Jay in it.”

He goes on to explain how big of a deal this was to Mewes, who is a huge fan of the CW's DC universe.

“Because he was my conduit to those shows. Arrow is his religion, dude. He almost came to visit me on Flash just so he could walk across the lot and look at the Arrow sets and sh*t, and dream about salmon laddering up and sh*t.”

Mewes didn't always have a role in the series. He pretty much originally came in to be Smith's "assistant," but the writers of The Flash ended up writing in a part for him in the script, and that's something Smith didn't know they were going to do. When they told him what they did, he said:

“Are you sh*tting me? Because his f**king head will explode if I tell him that he’s going to be on a CW show, that he’s going to live on the CW.”

Smith went on to say that Mewes will have two scenes in the episode and his first one includes lines. Smith explains that the second scene was a big deal for Mewes and that he was a lot more excited about that one. He teased that it involves a big crowd shot and the actor is wearing a mask in the scene. It was such a great experience for Mewes that he cried after filming it, and according to Smith, that's not something he does often.

So even though Jay and Silent Bob won't be in the episode Mewes still made it in, and it sounds like it was one of the highlights of his life, so that's pretty cool.
