Kevin Smith Talks About His HOWARD THE DUCK Animated Series - "I Get To Do Fowl Things"

Last week Marvel and Hulu announced that they were producing a number of animated series for Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K.Hit-Monkey, and Tigra & Dazzler Show. Those shows would build to a standalone team-up special called The Offenders.

One of the projects that a lot of fans are excited about is Howard The Duck which is being developed Kevin Smith and Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies). Smith recently talked to Marvel.com about the series and you can tell that he’s excited about it:

“The times we’re living in deserve an orator who can identify all the quacks in the system – a straight-shooter who won’t leave us holding the bill. Thanks to Marvel & Hulu, I get to do fowl things to one of my all-time favorite comic book characters in animation! Let’s be honest: I’m not talented enough to handle any of the Avengers, but Howard is definitely in my wheelhouse! However, the real brains of our operation is a legit cartoon genius: the great Meatwad himself, ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’s’ Dave Willis! So prepare to get Ducked hard!”

Willis added:

“I’m looking forward to working with Kevin on bringing Howard to the flat screen. And I know if I screw this up, I’ll never be able to show my face at Comic-Con ever again. Nerds will hunt me the rest of my days.”

I wish these guys the best and hope that they end up delivering an awesomely hilarious animated series. Below you’ll find synopsis for each of the animated shows that are currently being developed, including Howard the Duck:

Howard the Duck:

Marvel’s Howard The Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America’s favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu. Writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will also executive produce along with Jeph Loeb.

M.O.D.O.K.:

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce along with Jeph Loeb.

Hit-Monkey:

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. Writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will executive produce along with Jeph Loeb.

Tigra & Dazzler:

Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb.

The Offenders:

Marvel’s The Offenders, is a story in which nobody asked them to – and we’d be better off if they didn’t – but MODOK, Dazzler, Tigra, Hit Monkey and Howard the Duck are all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the Universe. Jeph Loeb will executive produce.

Which of these shows are you most looking forward to? Do you think that Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will deliver a great series?
