Kevin Smith Wants Tom Cruise to Play Wolverine or Mr. Fantastic for Marvel

Kevin Smith seems to be crushing on Tom Cruise and wants him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Smith was recently joined by Marc Bernardin on their show Fatman Beyond, and while they were talking they ended up focusing on Cruise and Marvel:

“I look forward to them bringing him into the comic book world. Like, I think he’s ripe for a Marvel takeover.”

In case you don’t remember, Marvel was looking at casting Cruise in the role of Iron Man very early on, so if the interest of working together is still there, maybe one day the actor could join the MCU. The Mission: Impossible franchise then came up in the conversation, and Smith when on to say:

“He’s got this franchise, which is huge for him but, like, you’re not getting any younger and it’s, you know, those movies they can add life to a mother fuckings career.”

“Could you imagine if they made him a bad guy in a movie? He’d be so fucking good. I’m still a Tom Cruise buyer. I’d buy that product.”

Bernardin then suggested that Cruise would make a good Striker for the X-Men franchise, but Smith had a different idea… “No, fuck that. Make him Wolverine.” Bernardin pointed out that he’s older than Hugh Jackman and Smith replied, “I don’t give a shit, dude. Tom Cruise’s Wolverine makes a billion dollars.”

Smith then starts to rethink things and suggests Professor X and then Mr. Fantastic.

“Make this mother fucker Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards!. Tom Cruise is the perfect fucking age and he’s charming as fuck.”

While Smith was excited about Cruise playing Mr. Fantastic, he came back to Wolverine, “I think I’m sticking with my Tom Cruise as Wolverine.”

I like Cruise, and I’d love to see him eventually jump into the MCU, but as Wolverine or Mr. Fantastic? It would be interesting to see him in either of those roles, but I seriously doubt that would ever happen.

What do you think about Cruise playing either of these characters? Are there any other Marvel characters that you’d like to see him play?
