Kiefer Sutherland Reveals a Scene From THE LOST BOYS That Was Cut Because it Was Too Gruesome

Director Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire horror film The Lost Boys is such a fun flick! I love that movie and the characters that filled it. I also liked the story as well as the bloody carnage that it had. Well, according to star Kiefer Sutherland, there was a scene that ended up being cut out of the movie because it was apparently way too gruesome and violent.

During an interview with Yahoo, Sutherland talked about the scene and how much he loved it. He also shared what it entailed, saying:

“There was a scene that actually didn't make the movie that I was really, really excited about, mainly because it was just so violent I couldn't believe that we were doing it. It's sort of in the movie — they cut around it — but there was a guy on a beach and he was bald and they had made a prosthetic cast of his head. And the part of the scene that I loved the most was literally, it was like a cake: I ate the whole back of his head off and blood just went everywhere. I had been directed to just smile like a child having cake, and the two images were so frightening and scary.”

I’m surprised that deleted scene hasn’t surfaced online! I’m sure that the fans of the film would love to see it! Who knows, maybe someone will dig it up one day and include it in a special feature for an anniversary home release of the film or something. It’s definitely a scene that makes sense for the character. I’m actually surprised the scene was cut! In the 80s, horror movies got away with doing a lot more violent stuff than that!
