Kingsley Ben-Adir Will Play President Barack Obama in A HIGHER LOYALTY Miniseries
The upcoming CBS miniseries that is being adapted from former FBI director James Comey’s bestseller A Higher Loyalty has found its Barack Obama with actor Kingsley Ben-Adir, known for The OA, Peaky Blinders, and Noelle. Deadline also reports that Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight, 13 Reasons Why) has been cast to play Mark Giuliano, the former FBI Deputy Director; Steve Zissis (Togetherness, The House) is set to play Jim Baker, the former FBI General Counsel, and Shawn Doyle (House of Cards, Fargo) will play Bill Priestap, the assistant director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division.
They join the already cast Jeff Daniels as James Comey, Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump, Holly Hunter as Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, Michael Kelly as Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Jennifer Ehle as Patrice Comey, Peter Coyote as Robert Mueller, Steven Pasquale as Peter Strzok, and Oona Chaplin as Lisa Page.
Billy Ray, known for adapting Captain Phillips and co-writing Gemini Man and Terminator: Dark Fate, is adapting and directing Comey’s novel. Here’s the synopsis:
The seventh director of the FBI, Comey served from 2013-17, and his book covered his role in helping to change the Bush administration’s policies on torture and electronic surveillance to overseeing the Hillary Clinton email investigation as well as possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, and before that his tenure as a prosecutor of terrorists, mobsters and Martha Stewart. Of course, a big part of the narrative and focus of the mini is his testy relationship with and eventual firing by President Trump.
This will be interesting for sure. We don’t usually get such an inside perspective on the inner workings of our government until it’s much further out from the time things occurred. The cast is great, and I’m definitely intrigued. What do you think of the series?
A Higher Loyalty will premiere on CBS sometime in 2020.
