Kobe Bryant Has Been Barred From Joining The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Kobe Bryant has achieved many things throughout his career,  but entry to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will apparently not be one of them. Variety reports The Academy has reversed its decision to allow Bryant into the organization, citing the NBA legend will need to show a bigger body of work in the film space before officially being entered into the organization. Bryant had shown interest in joining The Academy, and with his Oscar win, was considered for inclusion by the organization.

As far as whether or not The Academy's reason for barring Bryant is why they really kept him out is unknown, although they have been catching some flak for including people who may not necessarily have a ton of experience in the film space. There's also the fact that adding Kobe Bryant of all people during these controversial times in Hollywood could cause a public outcry, as was the case when Bryant's animated feature "Dear Basketball," was nominated and won an Oscar.

The Academy offered no additional comment on its decision. Do you think Bryant should be allowed entry into the Academy?
