Konami Announces Remote Duel Initiative for YU-GI-OH! and Postpones All Events Through May

Konami is doing its best to keep Yu-Gi-Oh! players safe and understand that we’re dying to play at officially organized events. They recently made the decision to extend the suspension of Organized Play and promotional events through May 31.

They’re doing their best to stay within guidelines provided by the CDC and are going to be working with Tournament Store contacts and business partners to find alternate options for fans. That’s why the company also announced that they will soon reveal their Remote Duel initiative.

What we know right now is that the Remote Duel initiative will be officially sanctioned Organized Play events that use Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, Legacy of the Duelist, Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution, and your own card collection (I’m still trying to figure that one out). I’m really excited for these opportunities and can’t wait to hear more about this.

I don’t understand why they’re planning events with both Legacy of the Duelist and Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution as the latter is a sequel to the first as far as I understand. Anyone else know what’s up there?

We should be hearing about the Remote Duel initiative relatively soon, so stay tuned!
