Konami Let Me Live Childhood Dreams with YU-GI-OH! 25th Anniversary Re-Releases
Back in September 2001, the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime premiered on Kids WB in North America. My older brother and I were hooked. When the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game was then released in 2002, we were out there trying to be the best duelists ourselves. Over the next couple of years we were talking about what cards we wanted, looking at upcoming cards based on Japanese releases, etc. We often talked about living the dream of saving up about $60 so that we could afford to buy our very own booster box for a set like Metal Raiders or Pharaoh’s Servant. It’s been about 20 years since those childhood dreams were really a thought and Konami has helped make them a reality.
Earlier this month, to celebrate 25 years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Konami re-released five of the most classic booster sets in Yu-Gi-Oh!’s history: Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Spell Ruler (formerly Magic Ruler), Pharaoh’s Servant, and Invasion of Chaos. They were kind enough to provide me with one booster box of each of these reprinted sets. Talk about childhood dreams coming true. They were very nostalgic and incredible moments and my brother and I bonded over my pulls even though he couldn’t be there with me.
Below, you can check out each video I made opening the sets and I did something a little different than normal. After opening all 24 packs, I created a couple of different potential decks as though I were playing in a sealed format. It was a very fun and interesting exercise. Some sets featured incredible pulls while others felt like complete duds. If you’ve been revisiting these sets, share your pulls below.
